50 Portraits – Portrait #13

My Grandma is well into her 90s and has almost lost her eyesight.  The other day when we were all sitting around her she suddenly said something that should have made everyone stop and listen.  She said,”What’s the point of living if I can’t see anymore?”…..  I thought everyone would go quiet and try to comfort her.  The uneasiness of being dependent on others for simple things as walking a few steps and growing old knowing it’s not going to get better.  And then she stayed quiet for next few minutes while others in the room kept talking.   It was a painful blank look she had on her face and I hated it making me wonder what’d I be thinking when I reach that age and state.  It must be lonely….. You may be in the middle of the crowd yet….alone.

Camera (Canon 1100d) settings were f4.5, 1/125, ISO200 with flash on camera right in a softbox up high.
