Food

About a year ago I did a photoshoot for a friend’s new venture into her love for food and baking.  I was revisiting the archives and realized I never shared these images on my blog.  So I’m going to some of them here today.

The room was well lit with a large window.  It was a bright sunny day so there really wasn’t any need for an additional light.  But I used them anyway as I thought it’ll fill the shadows.  Probably not a good idea when shooting food.  I learned later that when shooting food the opposite is the ‘right’ light as compared to shooting a person’s portrait.  The shadows and back-light accentuate the textures of the food that’s necessary to highlight the beauty of the food product.   A little bit of drama works nice with food. May be not an ideal way for each and every food item but it certainly works better most of the time.

We are also celebrating the festival of lights Diwali in India.  Today we exchange sweets and best wishes with friends and family.  I hope that this Diwali brings joy and happiness to each one of you and your family.
